Juniper Estate

Juniper Estate

Juniper Estate is the custodian of some of Margaret River’s oldest and most treasured vineyard sites. Family-owned since its founding as Wrights in 1973, the winery was renamed Juniper in 1998 when the Hill family began their stewardship. Juniper Estate comprises of three distinct vineyards with just over nine hectares under vine on site and more than twenty-four hectares across two other estate owned vineyards; Karridale in the south and Metricup in the north. The winery has a long history with the regional icons of Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon but is also well known for championing varieties such as Fiano Malbec, and Tempranillo. Juniper’s winemaking is centred around innovation and collaboration, with the aim to make wines that are delicious to drink while also capturing a sense of place and time.

Each wine aims to showcase the characteristics of the region: layered full flavours crafted to be effortlessly drinkable and thoughtfully enjoyed. Juniper Estate produces about twelve different wines per year, with sister winery Higher Plane producing eight. There will always be plenty of different styles and varieties for any visitor to enjoy!

The estate aims to provides a slice of the Margaret River life to every visitor, with expressive wines that are to be savoured with good company and a good view, one of lush greenery and the native flora and fauna that surrounds the estate. The vineyards and cellar door straddle the iconic Wilyabrup Brook as it flows gently to the nearby Indian Ocean. Known in the region for its warm, inviting atmosphere, the estate’s gardens are full of life and colour throughout each season. Whether it’s a hosted tasting experience, wine tours, relaxing with a glass and platter under the shade of the old peppermint tree or relaxing by the log fire in the colder months, guests are invited to unwind and enjoy.

With a holistic approach to winemaking and life, Juniper Estate seeks to minimise external inputs and maximise biodiversity both within the soil and above it. Everything grown by the estate is certified under the Sustainable Winemaking Australia program. Juniper Estate has won numerous awards for its wines, taking home four trophies from the 2025 Royal Perth Wine Show including Best Wine of Show, Best Western Australian Wine and Best White Wine. Please mention Wineries of Australia to receive a complimentary tasting experience.

Cornerstone Karridale Vineyard Chardonnay Juniper
⇐ Cornerstone Karridale Vineyard Chardonnay

Sourced from a prized single block at the southern vineyard in Forest Grove, this Chardonnay showcases juiciness, texture, persistence and balance. Intensely aromatic featuring BBQ limes, coal ash, chipped oyster shell, lime skin zest and white nectarine. The palate is powerful, with a fine chewy texture, moreish saline acidity and lovely purity of fruit.

Juniper Fiano
⇐ Juniper Fiano

This ancient variety features bright orchard fruits, wild herbs and crushed almond. The palate combines savouriness with succulent white fruits making it an ideal partner for a range of aromatic dishes and seafoods. It is also delicious on its own. Relatively new to southern Margaret River, this variety is already showing enormous potential.

Juniper Malbec
⇐ Juniper Malbec

This wine is loaded with vibrant blue and purple fruit, violets, warm spices and hints of amaro herbs. The palate is intense and joyous, laden with juicy berry fruit, moreish spice and a fine plum skin like texture. The blue fruited palate carries long into the night. This is a wine for drinking!

Juniper Tempranillo<br />
⇐ Juniper Tempranillo

A bright yet brooding nose revealing sarsaparilla, blackberry, black olive and fruitcake spice. A fine chew to the tannins typical of Tempranillo meld into earthy, terracotta like flavours, black pepper and sweet red cherry. Layered, long and with great intensity.
