Passel Estate

Nestled in a picturesque bushland setting you will find Passel Estate, a beautiful vineyard in the heart of the Margaret River wine region. Established in 2011 by Wendy and Barry Stimpson, the intimate venue is perfect for discovering their small-batch wines of distinction while supporting nature conservation.

Experienced viticulturist Andy Ferreira manages the vineyard year-round, rigorous in his adoption of sustainable practices, from water management to soil biodiversity and pest management. A certified member of Sustainable Winegrowing Australia, Passel Estate dedicates a portion of the guided wine tasting proceeds to further conservation efforts at the vineyard, such as providing a refuge for the endangered Western Ringtail Possum.

Additional conservation measures include the irrigation of peppermint woodlands, feral predator and weed control, and the re-vegetation of the creek-lines and bush corridors, providing a link for small fauna to move between remnant bushland areas. Visitors can even enjoy a private tour of the bushland conservation sanctuary and taste the award-winning wine alongside the very vines responsible for it.

For visiting wine enthusiasts, Passel Estate offers a range of wine tasting experiences including Wine & Food Pairing – A Sensory Journey, Classical Wine & Cheese Tasting, Nature & Wine Walk and Wine Sunsets. The contemporary tasting room features floor-to-ceiling glass on three sides so that visitors are immediately connected with the picturesque gardens, surrounding vines and bushland conservation sanctuary. Stone walls and stunning timbers are used throughout, sourced from the estate wherever possible. The building is beautifully appointed and sets the scene for a unique, high-end and wholly authentic wine tasting experience.

Specialising in premium wines defined by their perfumed fruit character, structure and balance, the philosophy behind Passel Estate wines is driven by an uncompromising commitment to quality. This high standard is evident in the winery’s impressive list of accolades, including gold medals from the Decanter World Wine Awards and International Wine Challenge, a trophy in the International Wine & Spirit Competition and awarded Best Tasting Experience by Gourmet Traveller Wine Magazine. Along with the beautiful on-site cellar door, customers can also enjoy online wine sales as well as the wine club membership with two tier options to choose from.

Tasting Notes

2021 Chardonnay
⇐ 2022 Chardonnay

Bold aromatics of freshly cut peaches, baked apple and custard are dotted with tones of grapefruit, zested limes and salted cashews. The palate is powerful and coating, boasting viscous natural acidity laced with flavours of orange blossom and nectarines, carried through to a quenching yet persistent finish of white pear and crushed granite.

2021 Sauvignon Blanc
⇐ 2022 Sauvignon Blanc

Lychee, rock melon and subtle tones of nutmeg and almonds introduce a brooding and textural palate, seasoned with tones of allspice, nectarines and currants. A finish of moreish gravelly tannin and lifted flavours of lemon leaf and freshly zested limes.

2018 Lot 71 Reserve Syrah
⇐2021 Shiraz

Aromas of glazed red cherries, white and black pepper and cocoa to start, slowly revealing hints of rosewater, pomegranate and boysenberries. The palate boasts ultra-fine red fruit tannin, poised and resonating through textures of plum skin and soft acidity. The finish is firm yet fine, awash in cherry blossoms and kirsch.

2019 Cabernet Sauvignon
⇐ 2017 Lot 71 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

Bracing aromas of red currants, blue berries and violets to start, further opening with time to reveal tones of cassis and wet slate. The palate enters focused and seamless, laced with tensile black and blue fruit tannin and extreme poise and persistence. A dark and brooding power lurks beneath the tight knit lattice of fruit and oak tension only to be unleashed with time.
