Domaine Naturaliste
Domaine Naturaliste
After nearly three decades working closely with producers in Margaret River and the south west of WA, renowned winemaker Bruce Dukes launched his own brand, Domaine Naturaliste in 2012. Crediting his time spent studying agricultural science with shaping his values and practices, Bruce approaches winemaking with the passion of an agronomist. Beginning with a deep understanding of soils and sustainable farming, Bruce believes that a holistic approach reaps the greatest rewards, both for the wine and the environment. With an intuitive flair based on decades of experience, Bruce strikes a tender balance between taste, fragrance and texture.
In 2018, Bruce purchased a vineyard located in the heart of the acclaimed Wilyabrup area of Margaret River, now the home of the Domaine Naturaliste cellar door. With a maritime climate characterized by cool wet winters and long gentle summers, the location makes for a pristine environment for growing wine, particularly chardonnay and cabernet sauvignon.
It is no doubt that this passion for agriculture and true artistry in the process of winemaking make for the exceptional wine experience you will receive at Domaine Naturaliste. You will find the picturesque cellar door nestled between the vines, offering and a relaxed wine-tasting experience for all who visit.
Aside from the focus chardonnay and cabernet sauvignon varieties, Domaine Naturaliste also produces sauvignon blanc, syrah, cabernet franc and a grenache rosé. Domaine Naturaliste has received consistent domestic and international acclaim, including a Best of Show Trophy at the 2023 Decanter World Wine Awards in London for the 2020 Rebus Cabernet and the 2024 Halliday Wine Companion Sauvignon Blanc Varietal Award for the 2021 Sauvage Sauvignon Blanc.
In addition, Erin Larkin from the Wine Advocate, awarded 96+ Parker Points for both the 2021 Artus and 2021 Purus Chardonnays. To try these award-winning wines for yourself, visit the cellar door to experience Domaine Naturaliste’s signature offering of a seated wine flight, where the expert staff will guide you through six wines from their luxury ranges. Bar tastings are also available as well as delicious charcuterie and cheese boards made to order. Bookings are recommended.

Tasting Notes
⇐ 2022 Artus Chardonnay
Artus is an artistic translation of the local Gin Gin clone into wine. A provocative, complex and textural wine exuding the seductive spirit of “old
world” chardonnay. The fruit is farmed in the cool south of Margaret River and hand harvested at first light to preserve freshness. Flavours of nectarines and candied pecan nuts are supported by aromas of poached pears and marzipan.
⇐ 2020 Morus Cabernet Sauvignon
Domaine Naturaliste’s finest cuvee of cabernet sauvignon from the heart of Margaret River. The gravelly soils of the vineyard allows for expressions of violets, cassis and mulberry. Indeed, mulberry is a unique part of the terroir expression of Margaret River cabernet and Domaine Naturaliste’s local heritage clone. This cuvee is named to reflect this unique mulberry character; Morus australis being the genus and species name for the mulberry tree.
⇐ 2023 Rebus Cabernet Sauvignon
An intricate tapestry of glazed cherries, violets and graphite, deftly woven into a palate laden with flavours of red currants, cacao nib and plum skin. Bristling tannin on the entry and a tensile core of liquorish, black berries and slate, culminates in a persistent and ever-changing mineral finish. Since the first release in 2012, Rebus has made friends with people and proteins across Australia.
⇐ 2023 Sauvage Sauvignon Blanc
Sourced from the cooler south of Margaret River renowned for fragrant white wines, the Sauvage is fermented and matured in large French oak barrels to allow a gentle ingress of oak. Bold aromas of red currant, passion fruit and orange blossom laced with exotic notes of lychee and clove. A creamy mouth filling palate delights the senses with an unexpected richness and depth of flavour.
