Altair Estate

Altair Estate, located in the stunning Margaret River region, is celebrated for its fertile soil and exceptional wines. Dedicated to sustainable winemaking practices, the estate takes great pride in incorporating modern techniques while preserving its rich heritage and rustic charm. The acquisition of the vineyard by the Poli family in 2022 marked an exciting new chapter in its history. By mid-2023, Altair Estate launched its wines, a venture that artfully marries the site’s storied past with the Poli family’s vision, resulting in unique, expressive wines that reflect the terroir.

Altair Estate specialises in Italian varietals including sangiovese, vermentino, nebbiolo and fragolino, as well as varietals quintessential to Margaret River, such as cabernet sauvignon, sauvignon blanc, merlot and malbec. The diverse portfolio showcases a wide range of full-bodied complex wines suitable for ageing, as well as vibrant wines that exude vitality and energy, meant to be enjoyed young. The winery’s dedication to craftsmanship was rewarded in 2024 when it proudly received its first bronze medal for the 2021 Malbec at the International Wine and Spirit Competition, affirming the quality and passion it pours into every bottle.

Altair Estate specialises in crafting exceptional wines, maintaining the highest quality in every bottle it produces. Situated on a 30-hectare property with 12-hectares under vine, the winery produces 1,500 cases annually, featuring ten varietals that beautifully represent both Margaret River and Italy. Its commitment to showcasing these alternative varietals reflects its rich Italian heritage and unique terroir of the region.

Visitors to Altair Estate can enjoy a memorable wine tasting experience at the cellar door or in the charming alfresco area, where stunning views of the vineyard and ancient olive trees provide a tranquil backdrop. The cellar door offers a fun, personal and educational seated tasting, designed to deepen guests’ understanding of the winemaking process and unique varietals. For a more immersive experience, guests can book a guided tour with the winemaker, exploring the vineyard’s inner workings with an exclusive wine and barrel tasting. Visiting the cellar door is a sensory journey that captures the essence of Altair Estate’s wines, making it an unforgettable experience.
