Bakkheia
Bakkheia
Bakkheia follows the philosophy of hand making and selling fine wines at a quality price to excite its patrons and improve lives through wine, food and conviviality. The vineyard was established in 1999 with its first vintage in 2006. With multiple trophies and other awards behind Bakkheia, its wines are extremely sought after throughout Australia. Bakkheia organically grows grenache, mourvedre, graciano, tempranillo, shiraz, malbec and cabernet sauvignon while it sources neighbour’s chardonnay, and sauvignon blanc to make its fume blanc.
Bakkheia operates under a carefully managed organic system ensuring the production of the healthiest wines possible, creating hand crafted delights that are unrefined and unfiltered. Small quantities and small batch winemaking keep the team focused on quality and exciting distinct wines, but also means that stock is limited. Uniquely, Bakkheia allows its customers to set the price of the wines they purchase, fostering honesty and transparency between the winemaker and patrons.
This innovative approach promotes loyalty and engagement, encapsulated in its philosophical label, “Aequitas.” Anyone wishing to join the wine list or is simply interested, Bakkheia encourages you to inquire as the team would be delighted to assist. As an exclusive, under-the-radar winery, Bakkheia offers a distinctive experience centered around its shed and vineyard, with an emphasis on fruit and wine. The winery also produces its own olives and salami, enhancing the tasting experience for visitors. With an impressive array of accolades, including fourteen trophies and recognition as one of Halliday’s top ten new wineries and top five wine experiences in Australia, Bakkheia provides personalised, immersive tasting experiences on-site by invitation or appointment, making it a truly unique destination for wine enthusiasts.
