Woody Nook Wines

A New Era

In 2024, it will be the forty-second year since the planting of the original Gallagher’s vineyard and Woody Nook Wines’ thirty-eighth vintage. It will also be the fourth vintage for the new winemaking team led by Digby Leddin, since the retirement of Neil Gallagher. With a nod to the past and a deep respect for the dry grown old vines, this fresh start has allowed the team to reimagine the wine styles and reinvigorate the wine brand with an eye to the future.

Introducing contemporary Rioja and Bordeaux-inspired red blends; “G & T” (graciano and tempranillo) and “BDX” (cabernet sauvignon, merlot and cabernet franc) to complement Woody Nook Wines’ lifestyle and cuisine through to barrel fermented “Chenanigans” (chenin blanc), puncheon fermented “Fume Blanc” (sauvignon blanc) and its rockstar dryish Rosé (tempranillo). Woody Nook Wines is also releasing two new fortifieds, a liqueur shiraz and a liqueur muscat – pedro ximenez, both with an average age of twenty years.

With new wine blends introduced, Woody Nook Wines will continue to make all of its classics including the flagship “Gallagher’s Choice” (cabernet sauvignon) and its extremely popular fortified “Nooky Delight” (shiraz and grenache).

The new kitchen team at The Nookery Café is led by head chef, Catalonian born, Oriol Pala Argemi (Yuri). Focusing on contemporary Australian cuisine with a Mediterranean twist, the team is producing delicious food that is always enhanced by a perfectly matched glass of wine. The Nookery Café offers indoor and alfresco dining, or stretch your legs on the newly completed lawn area with stylish Jarrah tables and private shady gazebos.
