Experience It All

Capel Vale Wines has been a pioneer of the winemaking craft since 1974, owning vineyards in the Wilyabrup sub-region. Each varietal is specially matched to the premium viticultural regions of Western Australia – an important part of Capel Vale’s commitment to creating the best possible wine. The winery remains family-owned to this day, with mature vineyards in Geographe, Mt Barker and Margaret River. Its wines reflect these unique climates and soils and are available in Australia, the UK and throughout South-East Asia, bringing quality Western Australia wines to the world.

The team of winemakers is proud to produce flavours that are definitive of their individual regions, and an expression of the local varietals that they produce. Capel Vale’s winemaking philosophy stresses a focus on balance partnered with complexity, emphasising the natural fruitiness of the varietals. To make sure the wines mature evenly and have optimal preservation, all wines use screwcap closures.

Visitors to the winery are more than welcome to pay a visit to the cellar door. Here, you’ll find the full range of wines on offer from Capel Vale and more. A selection of local products is available for purchase, alongside wine accessories to complement and enhance your tasting experience. The ‘Match’ restaurant is on a temporary hiatus, but visitors to the winery can still supplement their picnic lunch or cheese platter with the local and homemade products on offer, as you enjoy a view over the Stirling Vineyard and the gardens.

While you’re here, you can take some time to admire the local flora and fauna. Adjacent to the Capel Vale winery is the Capel River. This river is the home of many a waterfowl. Amongst these birds are the protected Sheldrake, otherwise known as the native Mountain Duck. As it is so intrinsic to the locality, it was only a natural choice to use this bird as the Capel Vale emblem. Becoming a member of the winery grants you the title ‘Friend of the Duck’, and grants you access to members-only pricing, priority access to new releases and museum wines, exclusive access to cellar door-only wines and regular communication on all things duck related!
