Torrent Wines

Indulge in the beautiful Italian style varietals from Torrent Wines on the vineyard’s stunning sevenhectare site. Head winemaker Rino D’Angelo has taken over his grandfather’s legacy and is carrying on the winemaking tradition along with the family’s beliefs in life, family, food and wine in honour of his grandfather’s vision. Having recently planted numerous Italian style varietals including, sangiovese, montepulciano and barbera, Torrent Wines aims to continue the masterful art of Italian wine making.

The D’Angelo family first sewed their seeds into the land in 1958, when Guerino D’Angelo bought and planted the first vines in Swan Valley. In 1963, he made the first barrels of wine in the same tradition that he had learned back in his home country of Italy. In 2006, Rino started his journey on the family vineyard and soon became head winemaker in 2014, carrying on the tradition and making three generations of artisan Italian wine making.

Located in Swan Valley, the second oldest wine region in Australia, the region is well known for its chenin blanc varietal. Rino’s first wine as head winemaker was the 2015 Speak Like An Italian Chenin Blanc, which earned him numerous awards.

Producing five different varietals of wine each year and specialising in chenin blanc, Torrent Wines is proud to announce the opening of its cellar door coming soon, where visitors can sample and enjoy Torrent Wines creations.

Rino and the rest of the D’Angelo family pride themselves on their traditional craft and hope guests can visit the vineyard and see the strong family values present. Some of the winery’s vines are more than sixty years old and Torrent Wines have received many accolades for its work and wines over the years. The vineyard prides itself on its chenin blancs, with its 2015 Speak Like An Italian Chenin Blanc most recently winning gold in the 2023 Perth Royal Wine Show and its 2018 La Famiglia Chenin Blanc winning a trophy at the 2023 Perth Royal Wine Show and gold medals previously, plus several of its other wines boasting many more trophies in months and years past.
