Established in 1978 by farmer and regional pioneer Michael Wright, Voyager Estate is one of the founding wine estates in Margaret River. Chief winemaker Tim Shand believes that there are just a handful of very special places that make wines that are not only distinctive but also world-class. The Stevens Valley is one such place, with all the known attributes of the wider Margaret River region but through a cooler and more detailed lens.
As one of Australia’s most innovative certified organic producers of world-class chardonnay and cabernet sauvignon, all of Voyager Estate’s award-winning wines are one hundred per cent estate grown and made, reflecting the unique qualities of its place in Stevens Valley – with its undulating slopes, warm summers and cooling maritime breezes.
Voyager Estate’s ultimate ambition couldn’t be simpler: to craft wines that do justice to its extraordinary climate and soils. The team aims to shine a light on what makes their unique place in Margaret River so special, both through how they grow and make their wine, and how they share the experience of it with every visitor that walks through their door.
Amidst a sanctuary of lush gardens and rolling lawns, Voyager Estate’s cellar door is housed in a beautiful, white-washed Cape Dutch Manor House, all ringed by estate vineyards and the majestic marri trees beyond.
Curate your own tasting or choose from the selection of seated wine flights, with expert guidance from Voyager Estate’s friendly team. Top off your journey with a delicious platter of cheese, charcuterie and condiments, created by in-house chefs to accompany the wines. Guests are invited to taste their way through the range of elegant Margaret River wines, step out into the vineyard and winery and sample wine straight from the barrel, or dig deeper with a sommelier-hosted look at wine craft and appreciation.
With head chef Travis Crane at the helm, the sustainably minded lunch experience brings together the best regional produce to complement the estate’s organically farmed wines, delivered with warmth, generosity and finesse. Menus change throughout the year in tune with key seasonal milestones in the vineyard, with chef and sommelier working closely to create flavour pairings that do justice to this magical corner of Margaret River.
⇐ 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon
Harvested from its oldest organically farmed blocks, this wine displays the quiet dignity of Voyager Estate coupled with the elegant personality of the cool 2019 vintage. Gravelly, dusty tannins woven around a powerful but harmonious black fruit core. Has the potential to be long-lived.
⇐ 2021 Coastal Cabernet Sauvignon
An approachable everyday cabernet – bright, juicy and youthful. Perfumed red and black fruit, bay leaf and subtle oak on the nose, supported by fresh tannins and crunchy acidity. A celebration of Voyager Estate’s coastal patch of land and the certified organic vines that call it home.
⇐ 2022 Chardonnay
Distinct vineyard parcels come together to craft the ‘Voyager Estate symphony’ – a certified organic chardonnay displaying the perfect harmony of power and elegance, reflecting the true essence of Stevens Valley. Complex and silky, with an exotic fruit and cardamom perfume leading into grapefruit, peach and praline on the palate.
⇐ 2023 Chenin Blanc
A classic style with a contemporary mindset, displaying fruit intensity and nuance, from Voyager Estate’s certified organic chenin blanc vines. A heady nose of honeysuckle and lavender meets a fresh palate of dried apricot and quince skin with gentle grip.
